2022.01.19 01:06 the_hose2000 Porsha from “Sing 2” is so amazing!

WARNING: This post contains images/spoilers for the film “Sing 2”. If you’ve not seen it, and want to avoid spoilers, please do so before seeing/commenting on this post.
Porsha Crystal (played by American singer Halsey) is my favorite character from the second film in the Sing series.
I think that, on top of being a really intriguing character with a wonderful arc, she also has a really magnetic personality, as well as an incredible amount of talent and heart! I distinctly remember her big number at the end—particularly her dancing and jumping on the trampoline—and being really enthralled by it! But, what did you all think? What are some of you guys’ favorite things about Porsha? Are there things about her you wish could’ve been, or will be, explored? Fun headcanons y’all have thought for her? Any songs you’d love for Porsha to sing?
Comment below and let’s discuss! :)

2022.01.19 01:06 horticulturallatin Which of these names

All of these could be honour names for the same person who was a big impact on my life. I don't care how apparent the connection is to bystanders. I'm just wondering which of the names you like best.
Please rank from favourite/most tolerable to least.
Imogen Ivelisse Irina Irisa Clarity Clarissa Clarion Vivian Viviana Hyacinth Hypatia
Older sister is Liora. Liora is rare which makes me wonder of it sounds odd with Imogen, which is Top Hundred here. But I love Imogen. I think it has a nice weight and a bit of a mythology feel (but I like Gwendolen/Angharad/Rhiannon so there we are)
Ivelisse is beautiful and has two connections but it isn't phonetic (its eve-a-leese) and it's 3 syllables but the natural nickname would sound like Evie but be spelled Ivie? Which looks like it would sound like Ivy? Should I just use Evie for short or Ivy as a nickname? I do think Liora and Ivelisse have a similar fairytale effect without actually being from a Disney property or anything.
I love Clarity for its modern virtue name effect but everyone else may hate it. Clarion is a kind of similar name with a musical aspect.
Clarissa is pretty, uncommon but known. I never see it mentioned even though I think it makes a nice alternative to Cecilia.
I can't decide between Irina and Irisa. Peace or rainbows? Tough call.
Vivian and variants are beautiful and I love the meaning but I don't know if Liora works with it and the natural nickname is Vivi but we call Liora Li-li /Lili at least for now.
Hyacinth and Hypatia are very dark horse candidates and I don't how usable they are. I do love the flower hyacinth, I do think the "hy" sound works well in an honour name, but is it ruined as a name? Hypatia was a scholar and scientist which is cool, but I don't know how usable it is? Or maybe it is as accessible as Ivelisse?
I don't see these names mentioned often so I thought I'd throw them in and see what comes out as most preferred.

2022.01.19 01:06 MonsterUltra What's a good main dish or soup that goes well with biscuits/corn bread?

Basically what the title says, need some good creative ideas for a braised dish or meat with a soup that would go well with either biscuits or cornbread. I know oddly specific, but home comfort style cooking is something I don't have much experience with, so I figured id reach out and see if you guys have any recommendations.
I don't need any specific recipes, just ideas on what type of dishes may go well togethebe good to dip biscuits or cornbread in. My current ideas are some sort of broth based braise or pot roast, or maybe a family style meat with something like a potato/veggie soup to dip biscuits in on the side. Have some suggestions for chili from coworkers, but I'm not sure something that acidic would work well. VERY open minded to anything! have worked through every idea from braised chuck with cornbread; to a roasted family style meat with gravy/biscuits and veggie soup on the side. would appreciate any help with this idea block :)
If any rules broken, please delete! and thanks in advance guys!

2022.01.19 01:06 peixe-exiep Catholicism and anarcho-capitalism

I'm making this post because I really enjoy politics and I wanted to know what political beliefs are compatible with Catholicism, and although I don't identify especifically as an anarcho capitalist, I share similar beliefs with them.
So, I have three questions about Catholicism and anarcho-capitalism:
1- Is taxation considered theft in Catholicism? If not, why?
2- If taxation is indeed considered theft, would it be sinful to work for the government?
3- Can a catholic support the abolition of the government?

2022.01.19 01:06 Tautological-Emperor The Miracle

I was just a boy. A young mind brimming with questions in a small town tucked away from the world by lonely willow-choked roads and thick swamps. Seems so long ago.
I remember the reverend, all red-faced and swollen above me, like an ugly moon. Angrier words that lashed out at the room beyond him, turned the crowd to a thrall with answers that even as a kid I knew were unsatisfactory. My mind knew only a future where it seemed that Man had triumphed over God. Man had walked on the Moon, and Man had split the atom for its Promethean gifts. Where was God, I had asked, completely serious, inside a Saturn V, or an H-bomb?
The lashings my father gave me for this heresy were not at all delivered in the form of sermon.
I still remember the day. Claustrophobic heat that drains your muscles. Turns every breath shallow lest you drown in humidity and sorrows. I skipped church now regularly, slipping away into all consuming greenery. My worn bag stuffed with the essentials for any young would-be apostate: warm bottles of Coke, smuggled turkey sandwiches, books about men trudging on red Martian sands, and a fishing pole. Perfect.
Somewhere far away cracked thunder as I caught glimpses of nasty thunderhead clouds between bayou canopy. Deep within me stirred superstitious fear of righteous lightning to drop me dead— but I pushed it away and continued the track, eager to pluck anything from the river. Each step through the muck lessened my worry, whistling.
The sky darkened. Deepened into bruised, ominous darkness. I felt the thunder in my belly. I grew frantic as any boy would, bravado and cheer as banished as the sun had been. Crashing through brush, trying to retrace my steps— something exploded. I was thrown. I could feel the heat of flame, sense fire in some primeval heart within my being as it sprang, ferocious and eager. Through half lidded eyes I glimpsed inferno. Struggled. Fought to stand.
I ran.
I hit something. Hard. Landed in the muck right on my rear just as rain began to pelt the good earth in droves. Lightning split the sky’s imitation of night, I scrambled, and looked up.
It was a woman. Tall as any man I’d ever met. Skin pale like moonlight, and hair pristinely golden and long, rippled with crimson wildfires and blue moss. Crowning her head were perfect, black antlers, elegant and regal. She was bare. My heart thudded in tandem to the storms song, and I was stuck fast, enraptured. Silvered eyes watched me— looked beyond me. To something I can’t possibly understand.
We started at one another. She tilted her head, just slightly. All around us the world creaked and groan as hungry wildfire snatched up everything in sight, turned all things living to choking ash. She was unfazed. Serene. I wept silent tears. Unblinking.
And then, without a sound, without so much as a breath— a single upheld pale hand closed, and the fire was gone. Thin, blackened trees whispered in the faintest breeze. Impossible. A miracle.
The woman— the goddess?— looked down at me in the mud. The silver eyes, a faint smile, and with quiet footsteps, disappeared into the tangle.
I’ve told no one else of this in my sixty years of life. Who would believe an old man about his forest savior? The fire was unwitnessed by anyone when I scrambled back into town, and my only greeting was a cuff on the head for missing another service.
My property, my home— it’s there. Built at the place I first witnessed something beyond explanation. And every night, under the rain or unblinking stars, I sit out on the deck, amidst a chorus of singing creatures shrouded in shadow. Waiting.
